THE MASK

Well, I had hoped to be further along by now, but many distractions… that and I didn’t realize how problematic all those pretty little curved lines could be… in any case, I am riding the learning curve!!!  I will be picking up as soon as I am done posting and we will see what I can get done this weekend… I promise an update sometime Monday!!!

First Addition to my Personal Collection

There are so many times when I see beautiful works by other bead artists… I have been amused, inspired, impressed… but not until now have I seen a work of art that so moved me and took me to another place… at the edge of the sea, at the bottom of a cliff… where dragons and little boys play… I remember my Aunt playing her guitar and singing “Puff The Magic Dragon” to me… and it always made me cry… in fact it still does…
I begin my personal collection with a piece conceived and created by Christina Neit / Good Quill Hunting. I saw this piece and knew I had to have it even before it was half complete. We have an arrangement. The piece will remain in her possession until the first of the year, it will be shown and shared, as all beautiful things should be.
Then, I will be honored to be the proud owner of probably one the the most beautiful works of art in the world of beads, created by my friend, and phenominal creator of magical and beautiful things… Christina Neit.
I am truly honored, and I salute your talent!!!

Well, progress has been slow, but I have overcome the block and finally know how I want to finish this.  As I said, I began without a plan, simply a concept… so now things should move rather quickly.

Well, here we are well into the final stretch of the mask challenge… it’s curious that I haven’t been able to find many pictures posted from others who are participating.  But no matter, I am busy bringing this piece to life.  I’ve taken a bit different approach in assembling this piece, I wanted to maintain much of the facial detail so I opted for a fabric with a little less bulk than felt.  It’s working out nicely.  I started out with no real plan, other than a “concept”… and as always, this piece has led me in the right direction and will turn out to be exactly what it’s suppose to be.  My first attempt at bead embroidery, and I think I’m hooked!!!  So how am I doing?  I’ll let you be the judge.

Thanks for good friends!!!

The past two months have been a hellacious climax to the end of two hellacious years!!!  I’ve managed to maintain forward motion and get through it in once piece… it’s held me back though from being exactly where I’d like to be by now.  But nothing in my way anymore so I’m focusing on more important things.  I have to thank Christina for helping me, she is a great lady, a phenominal bead artist, and I’m so glad I met her.   I hope someday we will get to meet in person.  Anyway, forward on and damn the torpedos!!!
